About Gilbert Veterinary Hospital ─ Meet the Doctors

DR. BEVERLY SCOTT

Dr. Beverly Scott is the owner and director of Gilbert Veterinary Hospital. She has been in practice for more than 25 years. She is a graduate of and a proud supporter of the University of Missouri, College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Scott comes from a family of veterinarians. Her late father, Dr. A.D. Allen, her brother Dr. Kent Allen and her sister-in-law Dr. Rae Stone are all veterinarians.

Dr. Scott has been actively involved in organized veterinary medicine and has been President of the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association, Central AzVMA, and Arizona's Delegate to the National AVMA. Dr. Scott was also honored by her peers by being named Veterinarian of the Year in 2004.

Dr. Scott and her husband have 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and are kept company by their cats, "Belle and JoJo, their aussie "Spitfire" their chickens "Pepper" and "Red."

DR. JULIE BODE

Dr. Julie Bode is a graduate of Ohio State University. She has always loved animals, and when she graduated from high school, she knew she wanted to enter a science-related field: biological research or human medicine. In her freshman year at Ohio State, she started volunteering at the veterinary school, assisting vet students and doctors with sick foals. From then on, she was hooked.

Dr. Bode enjoys educating clients on preventive health care for their pets. She also has a special interest in soft tissue surgery.

Dr. Bode lives in Gilbert with her husband and great dane "Oggie".

DR. AMANDA DUDLEY

Dr. Amanda Dudley graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Her godmother had a dairy farm where she spent numerous summers helping care for the calves. She has always loved animals and wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as she can remember.

Dr. Dudley enjoys helping clients with behavior issues with their pets. She also is interested in surgery.

Dr. Dudley lives in Gilbert with her children, cats, and dogs, "Bubba," "Noblin," and "Cinco."

DR. MELINDA PATTERSON

Dr. Melinda Patterson attended the University of Arizona (Go Cats!) for her undergraduate degree. She is a 2006 graduate from Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine. Becoming a veterinarian was a life-long dream for her, and she grew up with multiple dogs, cats, reptiles, and small mammals, which was the start of her love for animals. She has served as the President of the Board of the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Patterson enjoys the preventive aspect of caring for an animal from the young years into a senior pet. She also enjoys soft tissue surgery and puppy training dilemmas.

She and her husband share their home with 2 small humans, their dogs "Roscoe" and "Rodger", their cat "Griffin", and their tortoise "Toe".

DR. JODY BALKE

Dr. Jody Balke is a 2003 graduate from the University of Missouri Veterinary College. She did her undergraduate studies at Rutgers University in New Jersey. She was raised in a rural part of New Jersey, learning to love nature and the outdoors. She knew she wanted to be a veterinarian since she was three years old and nurtured that love of animals while growing up.

After veterinary school, she lived in St. Louis, Missouri, and practiced at a 24/7 clinic. She moved with her family to Phoenix almost two years ago and loved living out here. She loves general practice, especially internal and preventative medicine.

She loves her job, but when she's not here, she enjoys an active life with her two sons as well as playing with her dogs "Lolly and Pocket."

MEET OUR STAFF

VETERINARY TECHNICIAN SUPERVISOR

Jennifer is the Veterinary Technician Supervisor. She is certified and has been in the veterinary field for 20 years. Along with working with the doctors, patients, and clients, she oversees the nursing staff. Jennifer won Technician of The Year in 2003.

NURSING STAFF

Our nursing staff includes numerous Certified Technicians with our supervisors who have all passed their board certifications. In addition, we also have several Veterinary Assistants.

All of our staff are compassionate and committed to animal care.

TREATMENT ASSISTANTS

Out treatment assistants help take great care of your pets. They keep them clean and comfortable while they are here. They assist the technicians and are also responsible for the maintenance of our hospital.

FRONT OFFICE

Our front office staff is very friendly and helpful to our clients and patients. They all love animals and helping people.

We are very proud of our new building, and we thank everyone who contributed to our growth to help make this happen.

RECEPTIONIST AREA

Our lobby is large and airy. We have 2 areas of seating for your comfort and a cute kid's area with toys and books. Our friendly, knowledgeable receptionists are available to help you when you call or come in.

EXAM ROOMS

We have 8 large private, comfortable exam rooms for you and your pets. Our exam tables fold away for large dogs, so there is more room.

TREATMENT ROOM

Our treatment room is fully equipped and stocked with the medical supplies and equipment for our staff to treat and care for your pet.

RADIOLOGY

We take radiographs in our x-ray room to help diagnose broken bones, look for foreign objects and internal abnormalities.

DENTISTRY

Our dental area is equipped with an ultrasonic unit that the technician uses to clean your pet's teeth. After the teeth have been cleaned, any extractions needed are performed by the doctor, then the technician polishes the teeth. We also have a special dental x-ray unit to take radiographs of the teeth, roots, and jawbones.

HOSPITAL WARDS

We have 5 separate wards for our patients. Our cat patients enjoy the quiet area just for cats, while our dogs are kept comfortable in areas depending on their size and why they are here. We have an ICU ward in the treatment area for those patients who need close observation, an isolation ward for patients who may be contagious, large runs for our big patients, and a dog ward.

SURGERY ROOM

Our surgery suite is equipped with many monitoring devices to keep your pet safe during surgery. Along with the technician in surgery monitoring your pet's vitals, we also have a respiratory and cardiac monitor

PHARMACY

Our pharmacy is stocked with most of the medication our doctors would prescribe for your pet. This saves you a trip to the drug store.

LABORATORY

Our in-house laboratory has analyzers that are the veterinary industry standard for in-clinic testing. We get fast, accurate results to help diagnose your pet's medical condition. We also send more complete panels to Idexx, our local veterinary laboratory.

SPECIAL SERVICES

We offer special services from mobile veterinarians that visit our hospital to see our patients. Dr. Green comes to our location to perform ultrasounds and endoscopies, and Dr. Moody comes in to do special soft tissue and bone surgeries.
